Man faces charges after fatal personal injury crash

On Behalf of | Jul 21, 2020 | Personal Injury

When teenagers learn to drive, it can be a harrowing time for parents. Without the experience or maturity of older drivers, young drivers may take riskier chances that can lead to serious personal injury for them and others. It may cause even more anxiety when high school students are passengers in their friends’ cars as well. Accidents involving young people can be life-changing and tragic.

West Virginia family experiences tragic loss

One West Virginia family likely has many questions concerning the death of their 18-year-old daughter. Police reports say that the young woman died at the scene of a horrific single-vehicle accident in which the driver was a 19-year-old man. Investigators determined that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was allegedly .10 when he lost control of his vehicle, which flipped onto its roof and ejected both occupants.

The girl died from catastrophic injuries before first responders arrived. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to a hospital. He reportedly admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening and is now facing charges of felony DUI resulting in death.

Families deserve compensation

Many whose reckless or negligent actions result in someone else’s death face personal injury claims in civil court in addition to criminal charges. West Virginia families who lose loved ones in senseless accidents may find some comfort in seeking compensation for their loss. While financial compensation can never replace a loved one, it often brings peace of mind to a victim’s family to send a strong message to those who may choose to act carelessly behind the wheel.
